Vintage Catherine Walker / Chelsea Design Co. Silk Dress A beautiful vintage summer dress by Catherine Walker for The Chelsea Design Co., crafted in navy blue silk with classic white polka dots. The dress features an elegant wrap-style silhouette and button fastening at the back, embodying the timeless sophistication for which Catherine Walker became renowned. Catherine Walker was one of the most influential British couture designers and enjoyed a close professional relationship with Diana, Princess of Wales for over 16 years. She designed many of Diana’s most iconic looks and became one of the Princess’s favourite designers. Walker’s creations were also worn by numerous members of European royal families, helping establish her reputation as a leading couturier. Made in England from pure silk, lined in silk satin. Dry clean only. Condition is good vintage overall. There is one missing press stud (popper) at the top of the back closure, which can be easily replaced. The back vent has a small seam opening that requires only one or two stitches to repair. Aside from these minor issues, the dress presents beautifully and remains in good condition. It would benefit from professional pressing to achieve its best appearance. A particularly collectible design, as Princess Diana owned and wore a similar Catherine Walker for The Chelsea Design Co. dress in pink with white polka dots, making this navy version a wonderful piece of royal fashion history.
