You are bidding for original a refined icon from Seiko’s golden age of mechanical chronographs, the 6138-8000 – known among collectors as the “Baby Panda” – stands as one of the brand’s rarest and most distinctive models. Introduced in 1971 and produced for only two short years, this Japan Domestic Market reference houses the 23-jewel Caliber 6138B – Seiko’s robust automatic, column-wheel chronograph with vertical clutch. Comes on original and correct Seiko Railroad bracelet XAB321.Slightly more compact than its sibling, the 6138-8001 “Jumbo,” the 8000 wears elegantly on the wrist. Its slimmer tachymeter ring gives the dial a subtle, balanced appearance, while the luminous dial and hands offer great legibility at night – a thoughtful detail rarely seen in Seiko’s other 6138 models. Two dial versions were produced, and the piece offered here features the pearl white “Baby Panda” dial, beautifully preserved with a gentle creamy tone that has aged with charm.This example remains in very good original condition, showing light signs of careful use but retaining sharp case lines, clean sub-dials, and all original components. The chronograph and quickset date functions operate smoothly, and the movement runs well.
